Meet Taste of St. Vincent and the Grenadines New Host

Ms. Joella Crichton
Joella Crichton is a graduate of York University’s Acting Conservatory. She is passionate about her Caribbean heritage and is the reigning Queen of Carnival in Toronto, a title that she has won eight times. Joella graduated from the 2014-2015 inaugural acting program at Factory Theatre called The Mechanicals. This summer she will be performing at the Toronto Fringe, in a devised piece called Nasty with Maelstrom Collective, as Lysander in A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream with Shakespeare in the Ruff. In October she has the wonderful opportunity to play Regan in King Lear, with The Ad Hoc Collective directed by Ash Knight.

The Carl Daniel Quintet Jazz Band

About The Carl Daniel Quintet Jazz Band:

The Carl Daniel Quintet

  • Carl Daniel - trumpet
  • Edwin Gans - alto saxophone
  • Tim Healy - bass
  • Frank Edgerton - piano
  • Tim Leah - drums

The Carl Daniel Quintet plays a combination of Calypso, Latin and jazz-blues inspired tunes. This combination reflects the band members' origins. Carl hails from St. Vincent (Caribbean island) where he led a band prior to arriving in Canada. Frank comes to us from Costa Rica where the combo gets its Jobim and intricate Latin rhythms influences. Edwin and Tim's H & L are from Canada providing the band with their jazz/blues/rock influences.

Their inspired and energetic interpretations along with the infectious fun they have on stage have been delighting Ottawa audiences for years.
